How to Incorporate Media Into Your Wedding Business

Media opportunities are so useful to a business whether you’re a large firm or a small business! It can be used to build credibility, create brand awareness and even help position yourself in an ideal market.

But what do media opportunities entail? Digital media is content that can be created, viewed, distributed, modified and preserved on digital electronics devices.

Why is it useful to your business?

The world of digital media is our present and future. You have to be open to incorporate digital media into your business in some capacity.

We all have a voice.

It helps to get YOUR voice and expertise out there into the world.

What style of media approaches are common?

I like to break it down to basics when it comes to a media approach:

  1. Media Creation - You create your own content and put it out into the world to create opportunities for yourself + your business. You can do this through blogging, social media influence, podcasting, video creation and more.

  2. Media Outlets - When you pitch already established outlets for a media opportunity. This may be soliciting and asking to be interviewed on someone’s youtube channel, podcast, magazine or online publication.

How to Be successful with each style of media approach:
Media Creation: This requires a bit more legwork but can lend to greater,  long term results and more control of your marketing. We recommend creating a marketing plan, seeking guidance from a PR/Marketing firm or doing your research before starting to create content in one of these avenues! Remener, this is your business so any type of media content you create should be polished, professional and have a purpose for your brand!

Media Outlets: To be successful with this form of a media approach, you will want to form your pitch! Understand how you benefit the firm or artist you are approaching -- you pitch should include:

    1. Why you love them - show that you are a supporter of what they have to offer and do REAL research on them to show how much you care about their mission. If you have a personal connection like a mutual friend or you’re a user of their products or services, mention that too!

    2.  Put the Ask Out - Provide 3 topics you can offer that will benefit their audience and them! Whether it’s (3) articles you could write that would benefit their publication or 3 topics that you can speak on if they were to have you on their podcast or youtube channel or facebook live for an interview. Make it easy and clear and something that aligns with their overall mission.  Companies love when they don’t have to think of ideas themselves, but instead great ideas are brought to them!

    3. Be confident, professional and follow up and be prepared to Meet Deadlines

    4. Once you’ve snagged interested, be ready with a formal proposal and contract to work together
